Bender Racing TRX450ER build

Postby titanium » Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:59 pm

Last year I made the mistake of letting Sadie ride my Honda and she’s wanted one ever since.
For Christmas I got her this 07 Honda TRX450er,

Image

With the help of our sponsors we will be building it for racing and posting the parts and steps here. If you’re looking for a quad to start your own build see Mike Erland at Fun Country Power Sports in The Dalles, Oregon or at http://www.funcountrypowersports.com. A good shop with great people that have been supporting the sport for years.
Sadie got to ride it once then we did this.
Image

and the frame went to S & S Motorsports for a gusset kit and PC. This is the same gusset kit we used on our 09 Baja 1000, so I know it’ll hold up.

With the frame back, it’s time to start putting things back together. We are using ARS-FX components from Z Broz Racing. Staring with a +2” anti-vibe steering stem.
Image
Add there Gold Series rear linkage with the skid.
Image
Image
This new design will maximize wheel travel and gives the best possible leverage ratio, all with the stock swingarm. Then the Pro Max MX A Arm kit
Image
Image
There high ground clearance, long travel design work great when you get into rocky stuff. I’ve used this set up for two WORCS seasons and the BAJA 1000 with no problems

Then we add a set of the Exit shocks, we’ve heard great things about these. Can’t wait to try them out.

To widen the rear end we went with the Firestick axle from Team Industries. I’ve been racing on these axles since 2004 and have never bent or broken one.

We are currently part of their race program, check them out at http://www.team-ind.com

To open up the air flow, we use an airbox cover from EHS Racing.

Image

This gives the advantages of an open airbox and still protects your filter in those muddy races. http://www.ehsracing.com. To get the air out, a Motoworks pipe.

Image
Image

These make good power and still keep you under those Db limits at the track. http://www.motoworks.com. They also have a good program and are at all the WORCS races.

Have you heard of "Frogskinz"? They'll help your airbox even more.

Looking like a nice build. Sadie will kick some ass on that bike.
Race it.
Break it.
Fix it.

Some handlebars from Fly Racing, along with awesome gear

Image

you can get some hard parts too.

To get the extra miles you need to finish the long races, a desert tank from IMS Products.

These guys make a tank for almost everything. www.imsproducts.com.

For the bumper and grab bar we went to Blingstar Industries, www.blingstar.com. This is the new Attack front bumper

Image

and we used the XC rear grab.

Image

With the 2 side handles and the lowered grab point, it makes it easier to move the quad. Then we added some nerf bars, also from Blingstar.

Wow..looking good! Only thing I have to say with the blingstar nerf bars is when you start hearing the weird rattle noise...its the black blingstar name plate on the outer bar coming loose...both of Amandas got taken off pretty quick. Other than that she loves the nerfbars....cant wait to see a picture of it all complete!

To protect the underside of the new ride from the damage that can happen in an XC race, we are using an UHMW (plastic) frame skidplate and a chain guard disk from TCS Motorsports.

Image
Image

You can get info on these from Todd or Sean at Daddio (who loves Mt. Dew with a die-hard passion)@gmail.com or smmchugh@q.com.
Plus we picked up this brake rotor guard from S & S Motorsports.

A must for anyone racing in the woods or anywhere, as far as I’m concerned is a Rekluse clutch. Just like our other race quads, this one got the Z Start Pro clutch kit from Rekluse, www.rekluse.com.

Image

It comes with everything you’ll need. Plus we added this cool cover.

thanks Patrick.

To keep the quad stable at speed we put on a Fastway System 3 steering stabilizer by ProMoto Billet. This gives you high and low speed, plus return to center dampening control. A must for desert racing.

Image

We are using a UPP case saver. These things fit like a glove and offer great protection.

To get the power to the ground go with Maxxis tires. I've had great luck with the Razr, Razr II and I Razr tires over the last 6 years. Can't wait to try out these Vantage Radials.

Image

Image

Maxxis has great contingencies with WORCS racers and you'll find Mike and the support truck at all the races. http://www.maxxis.com to see the full line of tires.

OK dads wallet is getting empty and we've tapped all the sponsors for as much support as we can so it's time to finish it off with a graphics kit and number plates from BRM Offroad. You gotta look good when you show up at the track, plus it’s a good way to support your sponsors. Jeff and Missy are great people, check out their stuff at http://www.brmoffroad.com
